What’s New, You Ask? BCCCC has Some Answers

Tara Greco is senior director in APCO Worldwide’s corporate responsibility practice and Chris McCannell is director in APCO’s government relations practice.

Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship (BCCCC) published the 2012 State of Corporate Citizenship Report last month. As always, there’s some illuminating information on the current environment and some interesting projections for where the field is going in the future.

I encourage our Shared Purpose readers to check out the report, or even just skim the summary. To whet your appetite, I want to point out two items:

1. Regardless of industry, the majority of executives believe that ESG investments DO create value for the company

2. Citizenship investments require a long-term (ideally four years) commitment to generate real ROI. You can see immediate results with ESG, but a significant, sustainable value takes longer to realize.
