Sustainability at the Morning Joe Experience

I am a HUGE Morning Joe fan…some may call me an addict. I love the discourse, I love the Mika-Joe-Willie combo, and I love the interesting guests they have every day.

And after visiting the Morning Joe Experience in Charlotte a few weeks ago, I love them even more (if that’s possible.) The brilliant marketing team at MSNBC took over several restaurants in downtown Charlotte during convention week. One pub served as the set for the weeks’ shows; and another venue was transformed into a hands-on exhibit and lounge for convention-goers. You could create a customized button, get your image super-imposed into the Morning Joe team photo, get to know the MSNBC personalities better and enjoy a specially designed latte with the Morning Joe logo imprinted in the foam.

All of those elements were cool and fun, but here’s where they won my CR vote:

  1. Branded coffee-cup sleeves made from recyclable paper with wildflower seeds embedded into the paper. Just soak and plant, then wait for flowers.
  2. A catering partnership with Fuel Pizza (found in Charlotte and DC) and support for Fuel’s Field to Fork program. Fuel works with Charlotte schools to create and maintain vegetable “pizza” gardens—once the veggies are harvested, the students make their own whole wheat veggie pizza.

What did we learn today here at Shared Purpose?

Our friends at Morning Joe care about sustainability.
