Stars…They’re Just Like Us!

Along with millions of other Americans, I subscribe to Us Weekly. It’s a must-read publication for me every week. I don’t see the magazine as a great source for news, trends or thought-provoking topics…it’s more like candy for my brain.

But every once in awhile, I stumble on a “healthy snack” in the pages of Us, or on E! News or on people.com. For example:

  •  This week, Brian Williams is featuring celebrities in his “Making a Difference” segment. Tuesday’s feature on Eva Longoria shows how she’s starting in her own backyard to support an issue that is near and dear to her family.
  • Last week, actor Edward Norton announced the creation of Crowdrise, a do-it-yourself online fundraising tool that taps into your existing social networks. I think this has much more upside potential than some of the other social networking tools, since you can work across platforms.
  •  And Politico profiled the “celebrity do-gooder” work of APCO International Advisory Council member Trevor Neilson.
